D23 Roundup: Disneyland Paris
Earlier this year, Disneyland Paris introduced World of Frozen, and now, the park is getting ready to open another world inspired by a much-loved classic Disney film.
An iconic ride is also receiving a special update, bringing back the charm of its earliest days.
Space Mountain
The original Space Mountain ‘From the Earth to the Moon’ is returning to Disneyland Paris!
Space Mountain ‘From the Earth to the Moon’ closed in 2005 and reopened as Space Mountain: Mission 2. The ride swapped its Victorian theme for a new futuristic look, and the original Jules Verne story was replaced with a more generic space mission. The soundtrack was also changed to match the new futuristic theme, as guests now travelled to a supernova instead of the moon.
In 2017, Space Mountain: Mission 2 became Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain. The music was switched to a medley of John Williams’ Star Wars score, and the mission changed to spying on an Imperial Star Destroyer.
Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain will close at the end of 2027, and the ride will return to its classic look and soundtrack, but with some fresh updates.
The Lion King
A Lion King-themed world is coming to Disneyland Paris, with construction already underway! Its centrepiece will be a towering 120-foot Pride Rock, home to the land’s only attraction,a water flume ride similar to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World and Disneyland.
The ride is inspired by the 1994 animated classic and will retell Simba’s story. You’ll get to experience memorable moments from the film, like Simba’s showdown with Scar, along with songs from the original soundtrack.
The ride will include three drops, including a huge 52ft drop, so “Be Prepared” to get wet!
The new world will also offer themed restaurants and shops, as well as special opportunities to meet your favourite Lion King characters. However, Disney has not yet shared any details about these experiences.
