D23 2026 Roundup: Hollywood Studios & EPCOT

This year’s D23 brought some exciting news about the upcoming Monsters, Inc land at Hollywood Studios! We also heard about some updates coming to a few classic EPCOT attractions.

Hollywood Studios

We’ll begin our roundup at Hollywood Studios, where a new land is on the horizon and could be opening sooner than you think!

Monstropolis

The biggest news out of D23 about Monstropolis is that it’s set to open next year! But before you get too excited, the much anticipated Vault Coaster isn’t opening at the same time. It will open later on as it’s still under construction.

The Glob Theatre

The Glob Theatre will host “Welcome to Monstropolis” a new stage show created by Mike and Sully. Although Sully planned a simple show, Mike has his own ideas that he hopes will bring the house down. Figuratively, not literally. We hope.

In the show, monsters introduce humans to Monstropolis and show just how much we have in common.

“Welcome to Monstropolis” will feature an original song of the same name, written exclusively for the show by Randy Newman. This will be his first-ever song created specifically for a Disney attraction!

Harryhausen’s Resturant

Harryhausens, the iconic restaurant from Monsters, Inc where Mike and Cecilia had their first date, is coming to life in Monstropolis. Hopefully, your dining experience will go a lot more smoothly than Mike’s did!

The restaurant will offer a unique menu you won’t find anywhere else in Disney World, including sushi prepared by a very special sushi chef. Yes, the famous octopus chef will appear as an audio-animatronic, preparing dishes right in the dining room!

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza

Archie, the six-legged, orange-furred mascot from the Fear Institute of Technology (Monster University’s biggest rivals) is now the face of the new pizza restaurant in Monstropolis. Archie’s has taken over the spot where PizzeRizzo used to be, after Muppet Courtyard closed to make room for Monstropolis.

Monsters University Alumni Club

Monsters University Alumni Club is right next to Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. Inside, you can explore all the student clubs, fraternities, and sororities at Monster University. It also features the Elite Scarer’s Club, celebrating legendary scarers from the past.

Scareporium

The Scareporium will be the retail shop in Monstropolis, guaranteed to be filled with all the Monsters, Inc. merchandise you could ever want!

Epcot

EPCOT is all about embracing progress, and its new chapter is about to begin after Disney announced updates to two of its most iconic rides.

Spaceship Earth

For the first time in almost twenty years, Disney is giving one of its most iconic attractions a fresh update. Spaceship Earth is being completely reimagined. The ride tells the story of human communication, from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs to the invention of the home computer.

This new version will focus on the bigger theme of human connection, though Disney hasn’t shared any more details yet. There’s no timeline for when the changes will happen, but I’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Dreamfinder Returns To Journey Into Imagination

Dreamfinder was the original star of Journey Into Imagination when it opened in 1982. He was an inventor and storyteller who created Figment, the beloved purple dragon. When the ride was updated in 2002, Figment took centre stage. Now, Disney has announced that Dreamfinder will return!

“We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!” Thomas Mazloum, Disney Experiences Chairman, told the crowd at D23.

We don’t know what changes are coming to the attraction or whether it will be a complete reimagining, but what we do know is that Dreamfinder and Figment will finally be together again!
