The ‘Walt Disney Studios’ coming to Hollywood Studios

Animation Courtyard will be reimagined as “The Walt Disney Studios.” The area will draw inspiration from buildings in Burbank, home to Walt Disney Animation Studios.

It’ll include a brand-new experience, plus a refreshed Disney Jr. show.

The concept art above shows that the reimagined courtyard will feature trees and benches, making it an ideal spot to take a break.

The lot will also include the Studio Theatre, which is home to The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, a brand-new Little Mermaid show that debuted this year.

The Magic of Disney Animation

The Magic of Disney Animation is a brand-new experience set to open in 2026.

The building will resemble the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, featuring the iconic Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat, which you can see in the concept art below.

Location

The Magic of Disney Animation is replacing Star Wars: Launch Bay, which will close on September 25, 2025.

Experiences

The Magic of Disney Animation will feature numerous interactive moments, including portraits that come to life, inspired by ‘Once Upon A Studio’, a short film where Disney characters leap out of frames on the wall.

‘Inside, you will interact with and explore silly takes on the iconic Disney Animation headquarters, including the many different studio departments. Only this time, some of our favorite pals have taken over to create the fun adventures.’  – Disney.

You also get the chance to be creative and have the opportunity to draw a character sketch.

There’ll also be a children’s playground based on concept art of Alice in Wonderland by Mary Blair called ‘Drawn to Wonderland’. It’ll have an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tulgey Wood exploration area.

Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close on September 25, 2025, with the opening date for Walt Disney Studios scheduled for 2026.
