Universal Theme Park UK: Everything We Know So Far
It’s finally official, a Universal Park is coming to the UK!
Universal has already spent two years working on this project, collaborating with the local council and engaging with the public, and now everything has been finalised!
The resort will feature a theme park, along with a hotel and a retail, dining and entertainment complex.

The proposed plans include an entertainment resort complex with a world-class theme park with several themed lands featuring Universal’s distinct brand of immersive storytelling, thrilling rides, innovative attractions and exciting entertainment. Initial resort plans also feature a 500-room hotel and a retail, dining and entertainment complex. It will be the first Universal-branded theme park in the UK and Europe. – Universal Statement
Where is the park located?
The park will be located in Bedford, England. Universal have purchased 500 acres of land, which you can see on the map below.

How to get to Universal UK
Universal has described the Bedford location as ideal due to its convenient rail links, particularly to London and Luton Airport. The airport is also accessible by car within a 45-minute drive.
The closest train station will be Wixams, which is set to open next year. Additionally, with the construction of a new East-West Rail line connecting Oxford and Cambridge, another station near the park could possibly open in the 2030s.
When will the park open?
Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the park anticipated to open in 2031, so we have a bit of a wait!
Universal UK movies and attactions
Universal hasn’t confirmed anything just yet, but they have stated that they want each of their parks to have distinct attractions, with the UK park featuring unique rides that are not found in their other parks.
There are rumours suggesting that the park may include attractions based on The Lord of the Rings and Paddington. Additionally, a James Bond stunt show similar to The Bourne Stuntacular at Universal in Florida might also be part of the lineup.
The BBC is also reporting that themed zones and rides based on Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Minions are coming to the park.
Will Harry Potter be at the park?
It seems unlikely that there will be any Harry Potter attractions at the park because Warner Bros. holds the rights to Harry Potter in the UK, not Universal.
This means a deal would need to be made for Harry Potter-themed attractions to be included in the park. However, this situation could change in the future if Universal and Warner Bros. reach an agreement.
What are your thoughts about the park?
Are you excited that the UK is getting a Universal park? If so, what attractions would you like to see?
